Job Overview:

We are seeking dynamic and results-driven Field Sales Managers (FSMs) to oversee and manage the performance of a Business Development Team with the FMCG industry. Reporting to the Account Manager, the FSMs will be responsible for driving in store services, ensuring alignment with the clients commercial strategy, and optimising team performance. This role involves coaching and mentoring the field team, implementing strategies, and ensuring excellence in execution to achieve and exceed performance targets.

The FSMs will play a critical role in fostering a high-performing culture, ensuring the team meets distribution, and promotional goals, while maintaining alignment with budgetary and operational requirements.

Key Responsibilities:

Your responsibilities may include but are not limited to:

Field Strategy Execution:

  • Drive the execution of the clients distribution strategies within designated territories, ensuring alignment with overall account objectives.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager to translate high-level commercial strategies into actionable field plans.
  • Optimise journey plans to maximise coverage and productivity, ensuring alignment with client priorities.

Team Leadership and Development:

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of Business Development Representatives to achieve and exceed targets, focusing on individual and team performance.
  • Conduct regular one-on-one and team meetings to review performance, provide feedback, and establish action plans for continuous improvement.
  • Develop and deliver tailored induction and ongoing training programmes to upskill team members and ensure alignment with contract objectives.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and professional growth within the team.

Performance Management:

  • Monitor and evaluate team performance against KPIs, including distribution, planogram compliance, and promotional execution.
  • Analyse data and provide actionable insights to the team, ensuring transparency in performance expectations and results.
  • Collaborate with the Account Manager to identify performance gaps and implement corrective measures to address underperformance.

Client and Stakeholder Engagement:

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key trade partners to enhance execution and brand presence.
  • Act as the primary point of contact for trade-related issues within assigned territories, resolving challenges in a timely and professional manner.
  • Provide regular updates and reports to the Account Manager on field-level insights, market trends, and team performance.

Operational Excellence:

  • Ensure compliance with all operational guidelines, including trade visit standards, reporting protocols, and Point-of-Sale (POS) management.
  • Monitor the use and distribution of POS materials, ensuring efficient allocation to maximise brand visibility

Role Requirements:

Required:

  • Proven experience in a field management role, preferably in the FMCG industry or a similar fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated track record of leading and developing high-performing teams to achieve or exceed targets.
  • Full, clean driving license.

Preferred:

  • Experience working directly with or for an FMCG brand, with a strong understanding of the sector’s dynamics.
  • A degree or formal qualification in business, marketing, or a related field.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Exceptional leadership and team-building abilities, with the capacity to motivate and inspire teams to deliver results.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, capable of interpreting data and translating insights into actionable plans.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritise effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) and familiarity with digital tools for reporting and planning.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with team members, stakeholders, and trade partners.
  • Adaptable and proactive, demonstrating resilience in responding to changing market conditions and challenges.
  • Results-oriented, with a strong focus on achieving targets and contributing to profitability.

Main Purpose of the Job:

  • Actively contribute to client account management ensuring client KPI’s are met, and operations adhere to best practice.
  • Meet and manage financial targets and reporting for relevant clients
  • To plan and control the workloads of those personnel reporting to them, by effective training, motivation, and where necessary disciplining.
  • To liaise at all levels with client management and personnel to ensure positive development of the business.

Overall Responsibility 

  • Responsible for PRL aspects of the Client Sales Strategy (Marketing, Sales and Support) driving the PRL sales teams and ensuring agreed strategies with the Client are implemented by Regional Sales Management team in an effective manner.
  • Responsible for PRL sales support team effectiveness to reaching a common sales goal / strategy.
  • Agree the overall KPI’s required to achieve client expectations and filter these down to individual PRL roles.
  • Consult, inform and advise on best-in-class sales and support strategies which meets volume and conversion targets.
  • Manage and monitor all KPIs on a weekly/monthly basis and report to Client on all performance levels.
  • Manage costs and ensure all invoices are correct, accurate and available on time.
  • Provide Continuous Improvement and Innovation of Service to optimize approach to changing Markets and challenges
  • Feed into the Client’s sales and marketing strategy offering key advice and assistance on future growth initiatives, resource structures, budgets, etc
  • Managing the Sales Teams through the Management Team
  • Managing the PRL support team and any future PRL resources to be put in place as part of the growth initiatives

Operational & Personnel

  • Ensure the team delivers the agreed KPI’s
  • Weekly and Monthly Reporting
  • Manage the Field Sales Managers and the sales teams.
  • Manage Efficient Journey Planning of all field teams
  • Manage communication of activities and priorities from your Clients to the sales team
  • Manage the flow of queries from the field back to Client
  • On an ongoing basis, monitor and adjust workload planning as required.
  • Spend time in the field accompanying field staff to ensure appropriate standards of performance
  • To maintain staffing levels to agreed levels and agree recruitment where/when needed
  • Formulate and deliver development plans for all staff

Core Duties and Responsibilities of the Position:

  • Ensuring Maximum activity in your stores to support volume and value of sales

  • Merchandising and creating best in class displays to support Xmas sales

Candidates must have the following:

  • A smart phone capable of taking photo’s and receiving emails and calls.

Package:  

Weekly salary €500 per week (DOE)

Lunch allowance €40 per week

Phone allowance €10 per week

Van and fuel card provided.

****Robust bonus structure, including €500 completion bonus plus incentives throughout.****

Please note that during the month of DECEMBER you would be required to work TWO Saturdays, the rate of pay for these days is €20 per hour. There is also an option to pick up more hours and volunteer to work across a few Sundays too.
